| Keith As a long time reader and diver of 20 years, I found your response to McBad a little surprising. You have always come across as reasoned in your view yet I dont see any of the one sidedness you are referring to in what I think is a logical post on the debate. He disagrees with you, that's all. He's entitled to do that. He points out, rightly in my view, that saying do not need a policy is avoiding the issue entirely. The original post requested views, and that's what's been happening. I would be saddened if it was a one man campaign. I happen to agree, not entirely with his where may this take us view, but in the principal that this is a bad idea and contrary to the principles of environmentally friendly diving. I love diving and have asked if at all possible that my ashes are scattered somewhere in the sea. If my wife and friends decided to stick a plaque at my favourite dive site to remember me, they would in one action undo all the good I have tried to do for the last 20 years. I would find it EXTREMELY distrubing to come across such a plaque on a dive. We are all aware enough of the dangers and do not need such selfishness to spoil the site for our children. That's my view anyway. |
