On http://www.faktaomfartyg.com/boccaccio_1970.htm you can see pictures
(click 'm to enlarge) before and after egyptian conversion from 500 to 1400
people (look at the number of lifeboats that didn't increase!!!). You can
imagine that those few extra decks on top shift the balance point a little!

Therefore the wellknown capsizeability of these roro's (roll-on-roll-off).
(herald of free enterprise, estonia, salem express)

Funny also, the egyptians claim never to have gotten an S.O.S. and thus
claim it had never been sent. They knew about the accident btw because of
the scottisch got the unsent S.O.S. quite clearly and telefoned egyptian
authoritys with very very much hassle!
