Reminds me of the sketch by The Two Ronnies.

Corbett goes to buy insurance off a broker played by Barker. Along the way,
Corbett asks how this insurance thnig works. Barker replies to the effect
that "Insurance is the means by which you the insured pay me the insurer
lots of money".

Corbett asks " . and then what?"

"Oh, that's it" retorts Barker.

Claim your friends insurance. He was in trouble, you helped him and suffered
damage from that. Nobody's fault, but surely not yóur risk.
