| Seeing the recent posts on baggage allowances, I thought my recent experience with KLM may be of some use. I wanted to take my mountain bike with me, and for 40 E extra (one way) I was allowed a large (sealed) box containing said mountain bike weighing up to 23kg -- so obviously I moved the heavier bits from my normal luggage in to suppliment the 15kg that the bike weighs. To take 23kg "excess" would have been of the order of 250 E had it been unplanned. What you do with this information is of course up to you...
