| Imagine the scene. Many moons ago when divers were not as conservation friendly as they are now there was an inflatable full of divers waiting for slack water. They were all eager to be in because they knew the wreck was full of brass. As in most cases when diving a new site one pair of divers opted to go in first to secure the anchor as well as establishing that they were on the wreck itself and not a rock outcrop or worse a mud flat. This may seem unfair for the first pair but the pay off for them is that if it is the wreck they get to dive it first. One of the pair had a scare on his last dive and was a bit nervy as he started the dive. All the rest waited in the boat in various states of kitted up. After only five mins the nervy diver surfaced and in a distressed voice and holding on to the front of the boat shouted "its crap, there's nothing down there". Well the rest were gutted and started dekitting. This diver though was obviously distressed. At that moment his buddy surfaced and with a grin from ear to ear shouts "its full of brass and the vis is great". Well that was enough for us and brass fever took hold. It took about forty-five seconds for the rest to kit up and start entering the water. People were going in without there suits connected or in one instance his mask on and valve in. One diver walked from the back of the boat to the front to throw himself in. If somebody had thrown a live hand grenade into the boat it would not of emptied faster. taz. |
