Default Newbie Hawaii trip reporti

Did my reference dives with Maui Dive Shop at Ulua Beach. Pretty good reef -
saw eagle rays and frogfish. Since I was staying next door at the Wailea
Renaissance this was a convenient spot. After the certification I did a
hotel dive to St. Anthony's wreck, half a mile out from the hotel - used a
scooter to get to the wreck, which was sunk on purpose to start a new reef.
Dive was ok, lots of turtles, but not really all that exciting.

The next day I went to Molokini on the Maui Dive Shop boat. Unbelievable.
100 foot visibility, amazing fish life, lots of white tipped reef sharks. By
far the best dive of the trip. The DM sent us off back to the safety stop on
our own (we were within sight of it at that point, so those who breathed
slower got to stay down longer) Really an excellent dive, followed by the
second tank at turtle town, which was a huge let down after Molokini. If I
ever go back I'll make sure I stay at the crater longer.

Anyway, nice way to start off in the sport.

Michael
