The Monterey Aquarium has some sort of scuba intro at one of their
outdoor sanctuaries. I saw a lot of late teen/early adult types
getting ready to dive.

Probably very basic, but the temperature is most likely controlled.
Plus, no tides to worry about.

The cost on the other hand..... Don't know, but I'm sure it's pricey.
