| Anyone been diving there ? Last time I went to Miami was 20 years ago. I'm going early next year for 7 days then flying to Bonaire for another 2 weeks. It gets you away from KLM and Amsterdam. I'm still configuring the flight schedules and haven't booked anything yet but any tips on the Keys would be useful. TIA -- www.chrystianne.com Graded Grains make Finer Flour |

I've dived out of Key Largo twice, more recently in March last year, see http://www.bubbling-under.com/diving...orida2003.html And in 2002 drove north of Miami and dived a few sites up there http://www.bubbling-under.com/diving...orida2002.html All the wrecks I have dived out there were artificial reefs which can be a bit clinical, however the Speigel Grove is worth a visit if only for it's size! Apart from that it's colourful reefs and drifts if that's your thing... Chris -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG |

Watch for the currents though, there was a two metre standing wave over the wreck when we dived it (although it was more like underwater rock climbing!). The reefs are really nice, Snapper Ledge and Sand Bottom Cave were my favourites. If you want a real wreck there is always the Benwood - not much to see shipwise but a very pleasant dive. I dived with Horizon Divers in Key Largo who were very good and very friendly. DIN valves don't exist so take your converter with you. Keep your eyes peeled for the small stuff and the big stuff, we saw turtles, sharks and loads of barracuda on the Speigel Grove. CAS |

| The Duane wreck is also a good dive down there. Molasses Reef is a great 2nd or 3rd dive of the day since it's pretty shallow and there's lots of marine life since most of the Key Largo dive sites are within a protected marine park. You can't go wrong with Key Largo. You will definitely see different marine life than what you would see in say the Red Sea. And the prices will be better in the Florida Keys compared to other Caribbean spots too.
