I'm curious how. This was a one lane curvy mountain road with limited shoulders and it would have been very dangerous to remain on the road without any flares or warning devices. I could have pulled into the driveway of the chicken folks, but I don't pull into strange people's driveways without a really good reason. That's how people get shot. What would Mike Shelley have done? "Stay at home since I can't bring my gun" is simply non-responsive. In retrospect I could have driven along on three tires until I found a suitable space on the left shoulder, so the flat tire side could have stayed on asphalt, but I didn't realize that the shoulder was too soft until I had already removed the tire. How long is it safe to continue driving on three wheels before pulling over? I've changed flat tires myself plenty of times. This is the first time I got stuck. Rental cars don't offer too many options. |

Makes sense to me. Every so-called 'non gay/bi' guy that I've got into bed has had a wild time. It just takes the guts to try it once |

A tire can be destroyed rather quickly if you continue to drive on it when it is flat. This can cost the price of a tire vs. the price of a patch, but that is not "unsafe". A car is rather difficult to control when driving on a flat tire, but if speed is kept low, this is also not particularly "unsafe". On the other hand, stopping in a spot where there is a significant possiblity of being struck by oncoming traffic -- THAT is UNsafe! What makes you think that I couldn't bring my gun to PR? > How long is it safe to continue driving on three > wheels before pulling over? Many miles if you drive slowly... If you drive fast, you'll get a lot of sparks and sooner or later wear the metal rim completely out... The issue is whether you are trying to save the tire or not... If you don't care whether the tire and rim gets ruined, you can drive a *long* way... > I've changed flat tires myself plenty of times. This is the first time I > got stuck. Rental cars don't offer too many options. Shoot the car? If a horse breaks a leg, you shoot it, right? Isn't it the same with rental cars? <snicker> |

I guess we California lawyers need more practice in tire-changing turf-selection dynamics, but that cuts into billable hours. |
