If they have military surplus places in Canada, that's the best place to
get Camo-bedecking.

Welcome to the club. <weg>

Cool. Be sure to add in what he'd think of it if he only had limited (or no)
use of his arms as well).

Actually, it was referenced as "great white hunters".

YMMV, but this is often used as a derogatory term.

Nah. I don't have to be sneaky on the range. Besides, it's not very
stylish.

We'll see. He explained the rules for carrying the gun to and from the
range, and getting it registered in my name, etc. I didn't know it was
so damned complicated just to kill paper.

It's a lifestyle statement, I thought you said.

200,000 Marines can't be wrong.

Oh, wait.

You have all that leather.

Not even close. Even if you got legislation passed right now that would
effectively ban all guns, there are still millions out there and even the
most optimistic estimates allow for decades to pass before the gun free
utopia some imagine could be realized. During that time you are going to
have to support at least some segment of society being unable to defend
themselves against those who don't obey the law. Maybe you can do that,
but I can't demand that others do so. No matter what the "rightness" or
the goodness of your outcome you still have to deal with a downside. It
would be like trying to raise the world IQ. Surely a noble cause, and a
desirable outcome. But if done by killing off those below a certain IQ,
hey, the results would be good but the getting there kinda sucks.

How much red tape do you think the average crook puts up with? It's only a
hassle for those who follow the rules.

Not just teenagers.

Bummer. I keep being torn between just not going to funerals because I
dislike them so much and the thought that a funeral isn't for the dead at
all, it is for those who have to deal with the death, and therefore my
presence might help a little. I just wish people would quit dying. But
they never listen to me, they go right ahead. Sigh.

tro·phy
n. pl. tro·phies

1. A prize or memento, such as a cup or plaque, received as a symbol of
victory, especially in sports.
2. A specimen or part, such as a lion's head, preserved as a token of a
successful hunt.
3. A memento, as of one's personal achievements.
4. The spoils of war, dedicated in classical antiquity with an inscription
to a deity and set up as a temporary monument on or near a battlefield,
placed in an existing temple, or housed in a permanent, new structure.

It's not a victory, not an achievement, not a war. So is it a hunt?

hunt
v. hunt·ed, hunt·ing, hunts
v. tr.
1. To pursue (game) for food or sport.
2. To search through (an area) for prey: hunted the ridges.
3. To make use of (hounds, for example) in pursuing game.
4. To pursue intensively so as to capture or kill: hunted down the escaped
convict.
5. To seek out; search for.

Clearly there's no hunt without pursuit or search, so how can there be a
trophy?
