The trick is to find an operator that will take you to sites others don't visit. If there's a buoy on it, you can bet it's been heavily impacted by people who can't find a reef without on in an area with so many reefs that they are a navigation hazard. Personally, the only positive thing I can say about the effects of mooring buoys is that those that trashed the reefs in the first place will continue to congregate in the areas they've already ruined. I dive the Bahamas, Caymans, Cozumel and all over S. Florida. The Keys consistently have greater concentrations of small to midsized fish than anyplace else I've been. Lee |
