Is it worth diving there or are the sites very ho hum? I was just in Montego Bay during a 5-hour layover. If presented with the option again, I would choose to stay at the airport. |

I kind of like Montego Bay, but it does matter which area you go to. The area around and near the airport is expectedly crappy. A few miles away there are great beaches and excellent services. I don't know anything about the diving but given the choice of staying at the scant First Class lounge at the airport or sitting on a beautiful beach for a few hours the choice is a simple one for me. Sitting in the sweltering duty-free area or along the depressing concourse corridors would be the absolute last thing I would do at that airport. |

They do have a bar or two, but about the only thing to eat once you are in security is a little pizza cart, (and that pizza sucks). There is a Jimmy Buffetts Margaritaville there in the airport though i forgot.... As for diving in Mo Bay, I've dove in Negril and it was ok. but I'd prob just opt to sit on the beach there. Dunns river falls is neat, but it's not worth the 2.5 hour one way bus ride to get to it from Mo Bay. Nothing else much around besides shops on the streets and the shack market (flea market) where they sell tourist trinkets, carvings, etc thaty they "hand made" (which is a lie). mike |
