Default places in Jamacia

I have never been scube diving before but would like too. I am going
to Jamacia in a month and figured that I would try and find a place
down there to try it out. Anyone know of a place?

I've been diving in Negril and enjoyed it greatly. I am fairly
inexperienced in diving though, and I hear that Jamaica (in the big picture)
isn't all that great a dive spot. I think that the general feeling is if
you're in Jamaica do the dives, but don't plan a trip to Jamaica
specifically for diving. I dove with the resort I stayed at (Grand Lido)
and had a fabulous time. My trip report can be read here:

We only did one dive, but I had a good time doing it. We also went on a
snorkel tour and had a pretty good time. I'm trying to get organized enough
to put my pictures on the web, but it hasn't happened yet.

Try the Sandals or Beaches operation in Ocho Rios. I like their dive shop
and they run a safe operation. When I was there last December they were
certifing cast members from some popular American Soap Opera.

Negril Mon, Sun Divers at Poinsiana were great in the 80s. Also
snorkeling along the Negril cliffs is excellent. Ocho Rios means 8
rivers so there is probably a lot of sedement there, I did snorkel
Orchabesa once and that was realy murkey. Be sure to find a reputable
outfit, Peace T.

Try Jamaqua in Runaway Bay - www.jamaqua.com - nice crowd to dive with.
Life is ok but in general Caribbean not as good as Red Sea.
