| Hi there, will be in Thailand next week and was wondering if anyone has info on diving in Ko Surin. I've been to Khao Lak before and was hoping to be able to grab a package or find a dive company further North along the West coast. Anyone has any recommendations? anyone knows if there are some operators on the Ko Surin islands themselves or is the only way to grab a package from the coast? Any info would be great... thanks, axelle |

There is a dive "shop" on the Karaburi pier - although when I was there in Jan it was not open. They did have a decent speed boat for the service though. Contacts for all the Karaburi "operators" (i.e. read desk, 2 chairs and a telephone - as you have been Khao Lak before you will understand what I mean when I say multiple "operators" have one boat) Dive Leader Scuba Centre: +66 1 7375801 or +66 76 491867 Blue Sharks Dive Centre: +66 9 8741561 Kuraburi Greenview Travel: +66 76 401401 or +66 1 9581543 Thre are NO operators on the Surin themselves. The area is largely business free due the Laem Son National park (thank heavens for it) taking up nearly half the Phuket to Ranong coastline. You can arrange to go on a liveaboard also. Just a note: Karaburi is not Khao Lak - it does not cater for Foriegners, so be prepared for a bit of an adventure if you go. If its strictly the diving you are interested in then the Similans offers much better diving in terms of beauty, clear water and amounts to be seen (am not sure for how much longer though with the masses of divers that Phuket and Khao Lak puts onto the islands - you will have seen this already) -- whitehead ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Posted via DeeperBlue.net - Your Online Resource for the UnderWater World. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ whitehead's Profile: http://forums.deeperblue.net/member....fo&userid=1545 View this thread on DeeperBlue.net: http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthr...threadid=42191 ----== Posted via Newsfeed.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeed.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! >100,000 Newsgroups ---= 19 East/West-Coast Specialized Servers - Total Privacy via Encryption =--- |
