The Koh Tao Coral Grand Resort
is an elegant and scenic resort found on the Sairee beach of Koh Tao,
also known as Turtle Island. The island received its name from the
many turtles that lived on the island decades ago. It is one of the
most outstanding diving places in the world, discovered only less than
10 years ago in the center of the deep Gulf of Siam, located in
Southern Thailand.

We offer 50 luxurious and comfortable cottages made of tropical woods
such as coconut trees and bamboo shoots, fit to accomodate even the
most demanding guests.

Diving courses
and dive packages including diving facilities are some of the fun and
exciting activities available at our fully self-contained PADI
(Professional Association of Diving Instructors) Licensed resort. An
impressive swimming pool and tropical garden are only a few of the
many amenities offered at the Koh Tao Coral Grand Resort. The 23
economy apartment types rooms are available for guests who want to
take dive courses.

No it didn't. It received it's name from the shape of the island as seen
from the boats that used to bring coconut plantation workers there from
Chumporn on the mainland. It was continued as the name when the
government used the island as a prison for political prisoners during
the earlier part of the 1900's. The use as a prison was discontinued
during the 1930's, leaving the coconut plantations to continue.

No it isn't. But is is a very nice place to dive and have a relaxing
vacation.

There were more than a dozen dive shops on the island 15 years ago, as
well as the well established village of Ban Mae Haed. The "Koh Tao
Association" was formed 13 years ago by members of these dive shops. (I
still have the T-shirt!) At the time 'Big Blue' and 'Master Diver,' the
two largest (at the time) dive shops refused to join. The association
dissolved after only two years.

We can only pray that you are more accurate about your rooms and
cottages than you were about the rest of the post.
