| I'm in charge of planning our honeymoon for this November... oh joy :) I'm considering some of the resorts in southern Belize, around Placencia, as well as possibly Guanaja/Roatan, or even Costa Rica, in that order. Are there any weather concerns for that time of the year in any of those areas? For Belize, so far I've looked at Kanantik, Robert's Grove, and Jaguar Reef. Any others to recommend, or is one of those the best? We'd like a beach, scuba (she wants to learn, I already dive), some privacy and seclusion ;), a pool, AC, and other activities to keep us entertained, like perhaps a visit into the jungle or whatnot. She also wouldn't mind a little pampering of course, so nothing too rough. And we *don't* want to be near a noisy village. Any places to go in Roatan or Guanaja? I've been to Roatan several times, but on the less honeymoon-oriented West End. Is Fantasy Island an ok place? As for Costa Rica, I know there's less Scuba/beach stuff there (I think?), but the sheer beauty of that country (from what I've seen) is enough to consider. Where to stay and what to do there? Thanks everyone! |

The only thing you have to worry about in Belize at that time of year is a terrible hurricane wiping out the landscape. But that only happens every other November or so. |

The Silver Beach Resort: http://www.ehi.com/travel/carib/gren...ach-resort.htm I was there 8 years ago and it's a very lazy romanitc spot on the beach run by a German guy who also operates a scuba boat. A very nice spot suitable for a few days up to a week. Very few tourists there and the natives are friendly. From there you can also take short boat ride to Petite Martinique. Adam |

I haven't been myself, but I'm hearing very good things about Luna Resort in West End. Brand new in a quiet area. As for Placencia, again, I haven't been but I do know that the diving is 45 minutes or more from shore. Have you given any consideration to some of the more posh resorts north of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye? (Mata Chica, Portofino) Myself, if I were to honeymoon, I'd go stay at Victoria House on the southside (Ambergris Caye). Lots of cool day trips can be done from Ambergris Caye . . . ie: jungle, ruins, caving tours. An example day: morning at Altun Ha ruins and followed by lunch and pampering at Maruba Spa. |

| From time to time in 36 years of marriage me bride and I have taken a honeymoon. Ambergris Caye is the only place we've honeymooned twice. Miles of beach, still no chain resturants or glitzy resorts. Beach front bars and resturants, and few bugs. San Pedro rolls up the sidewalks at 10:00PM even during carnival. If you've been to Roatan you know about the no-see-ums in the Bay Islands. Guanaja is worse. Places to avoid are Bayman Bay Club on Guanaja (crappy service) and Coco View on Roatan (intestinal bug). See Undercurrent for details.
