I appreciate that, but I'm good here. I have the DVD shot while there and I
also purchased the commercial DVD.

I've only had problems with them when they're nesting. And now I know they
are territorial and if you stay out of their rather small area, they don't
do much of anything. It's important to know that the water column above is
part of their territory. When I see nesting Titans I go around them rather
than up higher and over them.

But that one time they followed me, chased really, all the way back to the
boat. It was really incredible. I was probably a 100 yards from the boat,
and they never stopped...they were relentless.

LOL . . .

I shouldn't tell this story on myself . . .but we were waiting for the
mandarins to mate. Suddenly out of nowhere arrives a group of, um, er,
divers? photogs? assholes? showed up and basically pushed us out of the way
(we'd only been waiting still, patiently and without lights for 20 minutes
or so).

We figured what the heck, ain't going to see anything now anyway, so we went
on down the coral ridge a ways. On our return trip, the current had really
picked up (worthy of Coz). As I was getting ready to glide by one of the
usurpers, I noted that he was firmly planted, both fins splayed and arm
solidly on coral head, readying to snap a shot or two. I figured what the
hey, and so I dropped my shoulder and um, er, accidentally bumped him.

To my surprise he took a round house swing at me . . .which of course,
succeeded in knocking him totally off balance and sending him tank first
into the other little coral head. (To my total chagrin.) Well, I
immediately realized that I'd only managed to make the situation worse and
so went to his aid to help him up and off the coral. He took another
complete round house swing at me . . .
I got out of Dodge.

Upon surfacing, the dive guide was asking my other pals what the heck had I
been doing? He'd only seen that I was having a fisty-cuffs under water.
LOL

Somehow I knew this would end up being another story about another
photographer abusing another coral reef :^)

And its going to get worse as the building work on Mabul comes to fruition
and houses all those that can no longer stay on Sipadan.

As i have stated previously, we stay on the "Rig"....have done twice now
and each time we had the place to ourselves, very relaxing, all the diving
is done when we decide to do it and where......i can see all that changing
now that Sipadan is not an option for accomodation.

Yeah, I heard their "territoty" is generally a "concave". So, what divers
should do is swin down and out and NOT above and over........I stayed at
Sipadan-Mabul Water Village when I was there. So, said hello to the mandarin
fish every evening....real incredible. Can be there for the mandarin fish
alone

Its conical, like an ice cream cone......from the sea bed upward to the
surface, widening outward as it gets closer to the surface......
