Dive locations in the bay are limited. El Morro, in my opinion , is the best.
Nice coral formations and fish life. Too bad you aren't going during the
winter. The bay is full of PAcific Mantas and humpback whales.

Most of the remaining 3 or 4 dive locations are also snorkeling locations so
depending on who you dive with and where they go there may be many snorkelers
on the trip. El Morro is about a 45 minute trip and is not a snorkeling site.
I can't recommend an operator only that I suggest that you avoid Chico's. They
are located downtown PV and are your typical 'cattle boat' operation. I also
do not think their DMs are safety conscious.

Agreed on Chico's!

Try the Mariatta's Islands off of the coast (about 1½ -2 hrs out)

Snorkel at Los Arcos

I just recently dove in Puerto Vallarta... in early June actually.
Anyways... I enjoyed the Marietta's islands the most, but it was all great
diving. I saw sea turtles, plenty of fish, a few giant manta rays.... Like
I said, great diving. Though in defense of Chico's, I did dive with them
once and they seemed to be great. They were by far the cheapest and the at
least the divemaster that was with my group was very safety conscious.
Again, I only dove with them once so I cannot give 100% assurances, but the
time I went it was great and they were knew alot about the area. How ever
you decide to go... have fun!! There's great diving down there!

Agree with other posters...avoid Los Arcos as it has been trashed...avoid
Chicos and do go to the Marietta's...as well there is good diving to the
north of Punta Mita.
