It's a bitch leaving the hotel in Ka'anapali at 5:30 a.m. to make the drive
down to Ed Robinson's, but well worth it. Tell Amy I said hi.

When you go to Maui, look up Ed Robinson scuba. They are imho the #1
dive operator. Byrd and Kim, John and the others are great to dive
with. You won't regret it

Diving Lanai is easier leaving from Lahaina, especially if you're staying at
the Westin. Ask the concierge for recomendations.

While I really want you to have a good time when you come out here, before I
can respond I need to know some more information; like what is your level of
dive experience? Is diving all you're planning on doing or do you have some
other interests? Anything specific that you really want to see or do? Is
it just you or you and your wife or you, your wife, and the kids, or ..?
When are you coming out? Will you be renting a car? Etc?

I've been feeling rather tired lately. I know I've posted a couple long
responses about visiting and diving on Oahu and Maui here before. Would you
do me a favor and do a Google search? Then if you have any specific
questions give me a holler. I live on Oahu and have been over to Maui three
times to dive. Actually, I'm going over to Maui again next month but it
appears I won't be diving this time. :^( Oh well, I'll finally get to do
the "Sunrise on Haleakala Bike Tour" thing.

Mike Severens or Ed Robinson in Maui.

We never stay at a hotel, condos are the way to go. Cheaper, roomier
and more convenient. Eat breakfast in the condo for a few bucks, as
opposed to $10-12 at the restaurant.

Going Aug 11 to Ohahu...me and wife........I am the only diver....95
dives so far........I rented SUV..............

I will be diving at least 3 days on each Island if possible....maybe
more. I will be carrying my own equipment. 13 hr trip.........ouch.

Seems like Ed Robinsons will be my choice......except for Lanai that
you say is closer form Kaphalui

Still open for any more suggestions and comments............

I learned to be careful about not getting the bend by going to the
volcano in maui ---unless 24 hrs lapse--. Got it.

Thanks you all ....

I've been diving oh Oahu for two years now. Ocean Concepts is currently
running dives out of Waianae (The wreck of the Mahi, then to Makaha
caverns). Both pretty good dives. Dive Oahu runs out of Kewalo Basin (very
close to Waikiki), they go to the wreck of the Sea Tiger, or to the YO-257
wreck, then a shallow second dive closer to shore. My preference is not so
much for the dive company, as the dive site. I prefer the Sea Tiger or
YO-257 as there is much more to see and the wrecks are in better condition.
An added bonus is watching the submarine Atlantis full of tourist going by.
I've added links to their websites. Note there are other dive companies
here, but I have only dived with the two I mentioned. My advice would be to
call both companies and ask what sites they will be diving during the time
frame you are here.

Dude, if you live here then it's time to join the club:
http://www.islanddivershawaii.com/scuba-dive-club.htm

Seats on the boat are only $40. Tanks are $4.

And, of course, there is shore diving:
http://www.shorediving.com/Earth/Hawaii/Oahu/index.htm

That is the cheapest. Makaha Caverns is a very easy shore dive. And it's
summer so the North Shore is flat!

Suds,
I appreciate the invite, but my dive buddy has a boat. So I have only done
two shore dives since I moved here. First one was sharks cove. The second
was last weekend near Keana Pt. Fair dive, but someone tried to break into
my car. The cut a hole in my convertible top. Cost $1000.00 to get repaired.
I think I'll stick to boat diving. I may look you guys up while my dive
buddy is in Papua.. Hope to see ya down below.
