| Okay, I'm gonna take a week off come August and I'm gonna go diving in the Keys with a friend (we're both damn well due for a vacation). I haven't been down to the Keys in awhile, so what are the good dives these days. We're gonna drive down through from Ft. Lauderdale to Key West so we can hit the best stops along the way. So the question is, which dive sites are the "gotta do", and who do we go with to get there. No dive is too advanced, she and I are both quite proficient divers, I'd like to see the best of the wrecks and reefs. Thanks |

| Speigel Grove... 510' LSD off of Key Largo 45' to 130' beginner to advanced... all on one dive. Bibb and/or Duane KL 2 sister ship cutters.. .one upright, one on her side. Eagle, Thunderbolt, Amesbury... skip the Cayman salvage... But... a bigger question... if you like deep wrecks why not do a couple in FLL before or after you go down to the keys? Fort Lauderdale and Pompano have the best wrecks around (next to the Spiegel grove of course) HLAviation wrote: > I've done the W-B many times and Kendrick twice, Never heard of the Queen of > Nassau, and never did the S16, maybe check them out. Divers City - Tavernier http://www.diverscityusa.com/ Queen of Nassau is a recently identified wreck in the sanctuary at 230. All of the cool stuff is still there, and is protected from trinket hunting. you can see more about it here http://www.mikey.net/aue/floridawrecks.html, and in the excellent book "Shipwrecks of the Sunshine State" by Mike Barnette S-16 I got to from KW, but I know Jim goes there. | Yeah, I know those wrecks except the Spiegel Grove, and I'll do that thanks, it's on the list with the Eagle. I know all about the Cayman, I went to it 6 times a week for a few years, I could drive straight to it. The reason I'm not diving Ft. Lauderdale is that I live here. I'm going on Vacation, it may not be far, but I'm not taking my phone either. Time to get away! I'm kinda also looking for the best reef locations. The best reef I know in the keys is now restricted to researchers. The best all around wreck I know of down here is the Wilkes Barre, but she's not a gas diver and I've done it more times than I can remember. Might try to get someone to take us to the Curb.
