Every time I have gone I went out with "Big Blue" & "Scuba Junction" great
operators, warm water, lots of marine life, wonderfully vicious triggers :-p
Seriously though, I have dove in Dahab, Cuba & Koh Tao, loved all of them,
Dahab was the best "in the water" experience as far as marine life goes but
as far as all around enjoyment (on the island, people there etc) Koh Tao
rocks, and if you can't get laid on Koh Tao, you can't get laid!

Geez, what's your definition of lots of marine life. Lots of cucumbers,
lots of urchins, but lots of fish?

>wonderfully vicious triggers :-p

Oh, indeed, I must agree there.

I loved Koh Tao as a vacation island. I was just very disappointed in most
of the diving there.

As for getting laid, I had a couple of opportunities come my way but I
turned them down. I gather you didn't. ;^)

I'm also making the assumption that now that you are in a committed
relationship, you would turn down opportunities of that nature as well.

I guess I am just there when it is low season (actually, I KNOW I am always
there in Low Season, Mid-Sept every time) most dives was either just me and
the dive master or me and a buddy and dive master)

Depends on weather, I had some days that matched/beat best viz I got in
Dahab/Sharm, every dive was better than cuba viz

Not lots compared to the Red Sea, but pretty good, again, I think b/c I am
there during low season less fish are scared off

Again, I think you should probably try going during lower season, also, I
liked most of the people I met there more (especially Sharm which was full
of Euro Package Tourists)

I was there in early October. I was diving with New Way, but their boat
went out of service and we ended up on Ban's. Still I often saw the Scuba
Junction boat and is was pretty filled up too. In fact, one day I wanted to
dive with them but they were fully booked.
Even with New Way, there were 6 divers on their boat and we rarely had fewer
than that in our New Way groups, even after transferring over to the Ban
boats.

I'm sure it is dependent upon weather. However, I have friends that go
there every year at various times of the year and they said what I
experienced was common to their experience as well. Also the DM I was
diving with said that the viz was pretty normal.

I didn't think it had much to do with divers scaring the fish off. I
thought it was all the fishing that takes place there. One night while down
on the beach, I could see a glow all across the horizon of the water. I
asked someone about it and they told me it was the lights from the fishing
boats.

I liked everyone I met there, the locals, the expats and the backpackers. I
had a wonderful time.

You've got a 6 month old. You are no virgin unless this is another
immaculate conception. Besides that, are you saying you couldn't get laid
in Koh Tao? ;^)

There is only one virgin here at rec.scuba and that is me! Just ask anyone.

Too lazy to impregnate a woman, so you hooked up with one who had
already calved?
