| So I learned to dive in Ko Tao Thailand 3 years ago, cost me about $200 CAN to learn and pay about $10 CAN ($7.50 USD) per dive there. I have been back twice as everywhere else I have been prices have been between $30 USD and $50 USD per dive and if you dive 3-4 times a day for more than a few days it is cheaper to pay the expensive airfare and get the cheap diving. Anyone know of anywhere else that is even CLOSE to as cheap? Central America preferred. Got a kid now and 3 weeks away for diving doesn't seem to fly well with my partner hiking for 3 weeks and I would have no problem taking care of the kid, it still doesn't fly) |

Utila, Honduras. And I can guarantee you will enjoy the diving more. Even at Roaton, I recently received a quote for a studio room with kitchenette for $75 a night on diving days. That covers 3 dives a day and a night dive once a week, apparently. Then on days I don't dive, the rate dropped to $45 a night. (And that's over Xmas/New Years) I think I'm going to book it. (snip) |

Central America :well with my partner :hiking for 3 weeks and I would have no problem taking care of the kid, it :still doesn't fly) Either Sand Dollar Condominiums in Bonaire, or Habitat Curacao had excellent shore diving right from the resort. So good, in fact, that you could get a shore diving package only, only dive from the resort, and have a great time. That gives you almost unlimited diving. I hear that there are other places on Bonaire like that, but I've only been to Sand Dollar. Another place you can probably do this in Sunset House in Grand Cayman. While the shore diving is just as convenient, it isn't as nice. Plus the navigation is tougher. Dan Bracuk If at first you don't succeed, you run the risk of failure. As for Koh Tao, yeah, the diving is inexpensive . . but then agai, you can get what you pay for. |
