If you're going to screw up, better to do it as an anonymous member of
a massive group. Which is one reason that operators like Severns and
Robinson prefer to take out "advanced" (read experienced) divers.

Amy is the best DM they have. I cannot fathom how Ricardo manages to stay
employed there. He is not a very good diver, molests the reef at every
chance he gets, and I have seen him unable to answer the simplest question
about the dive life so instead he spews forth a bullshit answer.

The rest of the operation is great. Like you said Amy is a very good DM,
Bird is an excellent Captain, Bird's wife (forgot her name) is also a great
DM.

That would be Kim. I was on the trip when she got stung by a lionfish. It
was amazing to see her carrying on with a full briefing for the next dive
while obviously in excruciating pain. And have you seen Amy's moray scars
on her hand?

Another vote for Mike, here! They know their fishlife, the dive masters do a
good job and the snacks are tasty. The _only_ bad thing I have to say about
that operation is that they're pretty hostile to novice divers. When we were
diving with them, they told a couple of the other dive buddy pairs to go back to
the boat -- their dive was over. I'd've been mad as a wet hen had they told me
that!

I've been with dive ops in places where blatant ignorance of certain
rules are simply not tolerated. If you're 8-10 hours off shore, there's
no excuse for being stupid, unless they're honestly planning on winning
the next Darwin award.

Do you know the reason?

Pauline is not very sympathetic to fuck ups and klutzes. They are
real loose on their dives (follow the DM if you want to see what
she/he sees, otherwise enjoy your dive), but they do insist on safe
diving. They'll let you dive until your tank or your computer say
come up.

Bouyancy control, I think. We were diving the side of Molokini with, as I
remember, 4 buddy pairs and a dive master (Tara -- she was great). Every so
often, she'd see how someone was diving, tell us to hang out, and go ship them
back to the boat. By the time the dive was half over, it was just the dive
master, my daughter, and me. It was a great dive for us but a number of other
people were not happy.

Guess we have different definitions of great. If these people paid to
go diving, and the dm did not let them, they should get a refund.
