| A Google search of Bikini Atoll yielded seven pages of results. Surprisingly few of the posts appeared to be from visitors to Bikini Atoll. Travel: You're route may vary but you'll arrive at Bikini Atoll on Wednesday. The uninhabited atoll landing strip is rock and grass. You travel by boat to habitation. Diving: Diving is world class. Previous posts indicated that Bikini Atoll is one of X best dive destinations. The December 2004 Scuba Diving magazine, page 20 and page 98, include Bikini Atoll and the USS Apogon as a "must dive in this lifetime." Accommodations: Basic. You'll get an air-conditioned room with single bed and chair or, if you're in a double, two single beds and chair. There is plenty of hot water for showering. Adjoining rooms have a common deck with chairs/couch. There are only two buildings for guests. The four single rooms are in one building while the four double rooms are in the other. Two single rooms face the ocean and the other two don't face the ocean. All four double occupancy rooms face the ocean. The maximum number of guests on Bikini Atoll is 12. (That large a group is generally discouraged unless sleeping arrangements can be worked out in advance.) The food is excellent. However, nothing is fresh. The food we ate in November was off loaded from a supply ship in February. (This includes eggs.) The only dairy products, if you want to call them dairy products, are soft-serve ice cream and powdered milk. Water is pure. You will not have a problem adjusting to strange microorganisms in the water because there are none. (A real benefit for those that tend to loosen up while traveling.) There is no TV, radio, telephones, etc. Emergency information from the outside can be faxed in at $10 per minute. Yes, there is radio communications in an emergency. There is an entertainment room with video for watching DVD's, etc. Scuba Diving magazine has pricing information, company names, and phone numbers. While they rave about the Apogon as a world-class dive they fail to mention that all the dives are world class. Must Have: You'll need Dan or similar dive insurance and a "C" card (any card will do), If you don't have insurance, you need a credit card or cards to obligate $40,000US for emergency evacuation services. |

| "ben bradlee" <up2u2figr@NoWay.zip> pounded away at his keyboard resulting in: :A Google search of Bikini Atoll yielded seven pages of results. :Surprisingly few of the posts appeared to be from visitors to Bikini Atoll. It's not surprising at all. Not many divers have actually visited Bikini Atoll because: 1. It has only been open for divers for a few years. 2. It's well off the beaten track and hard to get to.
