| "captkeywest" <captkeywest@yahoo.com> pounded away at his keyboard resulting in: :Contestants are to be given a hollowed-out pumpkin to take below the :surface. Dive knives are to serve as carving tools, and prizes await :the sculptors of the top three pumpkins. Hollowed out? Whatta buncha wimps. We used to do this as a shore dive in Cold Lake Alberta. Our contest was such that you had to start with an intact pumpkin, hollow it out underwater, do your carving, and come back with the your jack-o-lantern. Another stipulation was that the jack-o-lantern had to include the lide. Speaking of pumpkins, this power point file was sent to my wife the other day. It's better with sound. http://www.pathcom.com/~u1072675/ Dan Bracuk If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

link at bottom, from the Keynoter: ------------------------------------------- Divers down carve pumpkins Contest is only-in-Keys kind of event Grinning jack-o'-lanterns surrounded by yellowtail snapper, queen angelfish, grunts, tangs and corals are to make their annual appearance under 30 feet ofwater during the annual pumpkin carving contest hosted by Amy Slate's Amoray Dive Resort. The contest, set for a 1 p.m. dive Oct. 29, challenges buddy teams to create a jack-o'-lantern that will impress the experienced eyes of the judges, who double as crew of the Amoray Diver dive boat. Contestants are to be given a hollowed-out pumpkin to take below the surface. Dive knives are to serve as carving tools, and prizes await the sculptors of the top three pumpkins. There is no entry fee. The only cost is the regular dive boat fee: $60 per diver for the two-tank dive. Contestants are encouraged to sign up early because space is limited and the contest draws divers from near and far. The top three prizes in 2004 were won by teams from Miami Springs, Atlanta and Jacksonville. For more information on the contest, call (800) 426-6729) or 451-3595. ------------------------------------------------- source: http://www.keynoter.com/articles/200...ving/liv02.txt |
