The person I would have pointed you to, for dive sites and diving in ITALY would have been http://www.medslugs.de/D/Fotografen/Giovanni_Marola.htm Giovanni has been known in rec.scuba as well as scuba diving lists as DF (not to be confused with Dear Friend) because he advocates leaving one's brain at home when diving and trust his AI computer 100%. The page above has a link to Scuba-sites in Italy, but unfortunately for you, but fortunately for everyone else, it's no longer in service. But you can write to Giovanni by clicking his email address (or by searching in the web for his scuba page) and tell him that Confucius sent you. Giovanni is much better taking pictures of slugs, anemoniefish, and other UW critter than he knows about computers or diving. > > Anyone knows... I am sure SOMEONE knows ... > > 1. | I lived in and dived along the Cote d'Azur in the 90s. So I can answer a few of your questions in general. 1. Water temps will be around 18-20C on the surface and 12-14C at 30m. I typically dived in my dry suit year round. Others in 7mm. I used a hood except in the summer. 2. November you will find nice day time temps 15-25C. But believe it or but there is a ski resort on the island. 3/4/5. There is diving out of Calvi. Too long ago to know who might be running places but I would strongly suggest that you learn the pleasenties. Non? 6. Most will recognize PADI as I think PADI now has an agreement with CMAS so your Adv. OW will be probably be seen as one star diver. However, in France you must have a license to scuba dive no matter what agency you are certified through. This may have changed since I lived there. The license is good for a year and also provides you with insurance. However, this would not be an issue as a non resident. Alot of the diving is also club based. I was divng mostly with the club Juan les Pins. 7/8/9 Most of the Cote d'Azur diving is around rocky areas. We typically did dove around 20-30 meters. Dents, lion fish, stone fish are some that I remember. On several dives we came across WWII artifacts including an unexploded mine. I still have friends who live along the Cote d'Azur who dive who might be able to help out as well. So if you do not get enough info drop a reply. I can not remember when but during the winter there is a great UW photo show in Antibes. If it happening when you there you should go. Allen |

| Hi A friend and I were thinking about diving in Corsica in early November, but I have a problem finding good information about dive sites, operators and in general if it's a good idea at all. Anyone knows... 1. What the typical water temperature will be in early November ? 2. What the typical weather will be in early November ? 3. Any good dive operators who understands and speaks english ? 4. Any good dive resorts or hotels ? 5. Any good dive resorts or hotels with free beach diving ? 6. We're PADI advanced open water certified. OK in France ? 7. Any good dive sites ? 8. Typical depth for good dive sites ? 9. What's the scenery under water ? Lots of fish ? Almost no fish ? Red Sea'ish ? Great Barrier Reef'ish ? Nothing of the above ? 10. If Corsica isn't really the place to go diving in early November, then maybe someone has suggestions for better dive places in the Mediterranean Sea ? Any feedback and information and suggestions mostly welcome Regards Greg |
