No, really, if you've got-to respond to political posts, remove from the list stuff that don't count, like all the scuba newsgroups in this case. (I didn't this time either) (I was married for 23 years so I have no gonads to be hung by, BTW;) Hey scuba folks, cross-post some knife-stuff to rec.knives when you feel like it. ;) Alvin in AZ (rec.knives) |

I can't speak for R.s.locations or .equip, but this is normal fare for Rec.scuba. > (I didn't this time either) > (I was married for 23 years so I have no gonads to be hung by, BTW;) > > Hey scuba folks, cross-post some knife-stuff to rec.knives when you > feel like it. ;) Well, a lot of us think that scissors are much better to carry than knives, but that may not work for you guys. > Alvin in AZ (rec.knives) |

Actually, if the scuba guys knew how many 'knife design decisions' were made with their interests in mind, they'd be a bit more interested- imho. And, I'd like to hear about 'scissors'- that's just two knives; twice the fun. Chas |

Scissors -may- cut better in a given situation for scuba divers- we usually only have one hand to work with, and cannot hold the work. When we get hung up underwater, it is frequently in a no-visibility situation, and on some part of us that we can barely reach. Practically invisible, fishing line is one of our #1 entrapments, much easier to cut with scissors. Also, pointed knives (you note that some of ours are blunt tipped) can puncture our flotation bladders or drysuits, not to mention -us-. |

Sure- I've worked with all kinds of divers; carry systems mostly- done a wide variety of sheathing. Chas |

Cool post thanks. Thanksgiving I cut through the rib cage of the turkey with some kitchen scissors. They cut through the ribs so easy I could hardly believe it. :) Alvin in AZ (rec.knives) |

See "scissors w/ pouch", probably the garden variety. One advantage is that when they rust (the pivot rivet), you just chuck 'em. I've seen the scissors alone as little as 3 bucks at Home Depot. I also own both those line cutters (they hook the target, then you pull). >> Also, pointed knives (you note that some of ours are blunt tipped) can >> puncture our flotation bladders or drysuits, not to mention -us-. > > Sure- I've worked with all kinds of divers; carry systems mostly- done a > wide variety of sheathing. Most of us, at least around here (Rec.scuba), use a belt sheath. Are you, like, a knife making guy? > > Chas > |
