I've never been to Caymans, so no comparrison there. BUT, just back (3/10/07) from "Provo" and had a wonderful time. The island is under a surge of developement. I dive with an operation called Famingo Divers. Fewer divers on the boat, very nice and competent dive masters. You may want to have the ultimate dive adventure and go to Salt Cay or South Caicos for some real pristine reefs and super visability. One word of caution. Somewhere between April & May there is a large jellyfish bloom in TCI you might want to avoid. Hard to predict exactly when it will occur, usually last 2-3 weeks making swimming/snorkels all but impossible. The folks on the island will not tell you this, for fera of choking off the tourist dollars. |

| Pondering a trip in May: Cayman Brac staying at Brac Reef Resort and diving with Reef Divers, or Turks & Caicos staying at Ocean Club Resorts and diving with Caicosadventures. I've stayed at Little Cayman Beach resort and the now closed Brac Reef Divi Tiara and enjoyed both. Looking for dive operator and hotels with wheelchair access for me and dive sites with short boat rides for spouse with mild seasickness. Not going with a group so looking for a place with a sociable tiki bar, and a dive operation where no gear lugging is required. Flying from mid southern state on east coast, expect airfares to be the same at $600 or so. Looking for the island feel without too much McDonalds but want the basic amenities and then some. Feedback bubble blowing brethren? |
