| I'm currently living in Taiwan and have the month of August off. I'd like to take that time to take my Padi Dive Masters course somewhere in Asia. I've been to the Ghili Islands off the Coast of Lombok / Bali during this period of time and found that both the weather and the diving was amazing. This is my number one choice. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any other locations around Asia during this period of time that would be good to locate and complete my Dive Masters Course. I'm thinking that Thailand is right out because the Andamin side (Phi Phi / Pukett ect....) will be monsooning and generally crudy. I've found the diving on the gulf side (Kho Tao) and Sammui to be a little lame compared to the fantastic Andamin side. Any other locations or ideas would be really helpful. Thanks in advance J |

I really enjoyed the diving in Redang a lot more than Thailand, even the Andaman side! I believe Redang is getting a lot more developed than when I was there three years ago, not a good thing IMO as I like it quiet. Anita |

| Joe, The best kept secret in Asiana is Okinawa. | you could do worse than do your DM in Koh Tao of the Thai East coast, sligthly lame maybe but good training and plenty of customers to help with during your course. You could however get yourself out to the Komodo area of Indo, diving from Labuanbajo, the diving is fantastic, and I've dived all over Thailand, Malaysia and Indo. I dived there in 1993: it was superb but the guy, who had just set up shop, only had the one site. We attempted some exploration and ended up diving on lots of dynamited coral. How many dive operations (not counting the pearl fishermen who would take you out if you were willing to put up with death-defying equipment and their complete lack of knowledge of safety issues) are there now? I would LOVE to go back. What stage of development has Labuanbajo got to? Ten eyars ago it was just right for me. I hope it hasn't been going the way of the Krabi are of Thailand! | I found it to be the best diving I have done, even though I haven't dived the red sea or the barrier reef, I have been told by those that have that the Komodo area is better. Love to here from others that have dived both! -- Posted via Deeper Blue [ http://www.deeperblue.net ] freedive.scuba.travel - The Online Resource for the Underwater World |
