Default Need a Travel Agent for Maui

Hi,

We loved our one & only visit to Maui south of Kihei about 15 years
ago and can't wait to go back.

We stayed at a Makena Surf condo and loved snorkelling right out our
back door on a very quiet beach! Unfortunately, it now appears to be
out of our price range.

Just starting our planning....We don't need crowds or activities, just
peace and quiet and snorkelling.

Can anyone recommend a good travel agent that has a working knowledge
of good snorkel areas and decent 1Br condos on that part of Maui?

Approx. Maui Arrival Date: 7/24/06

Approx. Departure Date:* 8/7/06

thnx

Phil H.

PS: If this is the wrong newsgroup, please suggest a better one....

Given that you don't want crowds or activities, have you considered a
different island altogether? The Big Island and Kauai are both cheaper and
less crowded than Maui, but the snorkeling is just as good. Also, your
dates are smack dab in the middle of the summer. It's cheaper to travel in,
say, October.

You also might want to broaden your search beyond a single travel agent.
Believe it or not, the internet that you're using to post your query is also
very handy for searching for Hawaii condos, complete with photos and contact
information. At the very least, do some searching on your own before you
approach a travel agent so you'll know what you can get for your money.
Again, the same condos that are booked solid during peak tourist seasons are
empty and drastically cutting their rates to attract customers in, say,
October.

I suggest buying a Lonely Planets Tour Book for Maui. I have found
these books to be great for other places, no reason for Maui to be
different.

Can't go in October....it's gotta be July or August.

I 've tried to get info from individual condo owners about snorkeling
near their property. Some have been helpful, most just ignore my
questions.

(Not sure if they can't be bothered or just don't know!!??)

thnx
