Giant Pacific Octopus pics posted

I've posted some new pics of a small giant pacific octopus (an
oxymoron - been too deep with the rebreather ;) on my blog -

This was about an 8 kilo animal, which was making it's way from a
drying tidepool to the sea's edge - a distance at that stage of the
tide of probably 75-90 meters. The octopus had probably holed up in
the tidepool, but between the tidepool draining and the sun warming
the remaining water, probably figured time to make a run for cooler,
oxygenated water. the octopus made it, and appeared to make good
time. It only stopped to blast a mix of ink and sandy water at the
dog ..

If it survived a few more months could easily attain 25-30 kilos -
many we find at low tide approach this size in the area (an island
group off the northern reaches of the British Columbia coast).
