[quote=scubish.com]Our records indicate that you have never posted to our site before! Why not make your first post today by saying hello to our community in our Introductions forum. [quote/]

You have a header with this but I don't see a Introductions forum. Hope I didn't miss it

The site looks great

Oops, that's right. I will put it on the ToDo list.

Currently there is lots of stuff going on behind the scenes and I hope we will be able to put at least some parts live within the next 2 weeks.

I am most thrilled about our worldwide diving destination area where we will have information about great dive spots around the world. We are still straightening the layout for this and there are a few bugs to fix, but we are getting closer and closer every day.

Cheers,
Matthias

PS: Looking at your post there seems to be something wrong with the quote function as well. Another item for our list..

Other than the small bugs IMHO I'd split the "gear forum" up into something like this...

Main forum "Gear"

With these sub-forums

1. Reviews

2. Questions

3. Maintance

I just created the additional forum. Let's see how this goes.
Actually we already have the first post in it

The split of the gear review is a good idea, but I am not sure if people will really use it.

I will put Gear Review on the feature wishlist. I actually bought a vBulleting plugin called GARS a while ago that we planned to use for a dive base review and perhaps we can utilize this for Gear review.

Let's see.

I posted about five posts, and I noticed that they have not shown up on this forum yet. I know your policy say that the moderator must review them to assure there is no spam going on to this post. Could you give me some kind of heads up on whats taking so long for my show posts to show up?

thanks

Phil

Hi Phil,

all your posts have been authorized. Normally it takes somewhere between 1 and 26 hours for new user's messages to be moderated. Only for the first few though, afterwards the messages get posted directly. Since your first posts have been approved, you are in this group new, so all future posts will go online directly.

The idea behind the moderation is that most spammers register, post one message and then never use the account again. Moderating new user's post is very effective, since few spammers start posting scuba related messages and then suddenly tell us about all their pills and penny stocks.

But I am not sure if I really like the current setup. No, I am sure I don't like this. I would prefer if people would just be able to post as hassle free as possible.

There are some other systems available for the vBulletin forum software that deal with SPAM and I will see if I can find a better solution.

Matthias

I did post to the introductions forum and I know that some forums won't allow new users to post new topics, just responses. I guess you have have a good idea if you are being targetted by spammers.
